OpenMV H7 Plus Stuck on DFU Mode

Hello. I have been using an OpenMV H7 Plus for about a year now for a robotics competition, but this is my first time getting stuck into something. The camera was turned into DFU mode for some reason—the LED light does not turn green when it is connected to my laptop with. And I know that it should always turn on whatever the light color is every time it is connected to a laptop, because of my experience.

So, when I try to connect the camera to the IDE, it shows a prompt of what I would like to do. I already tried selecting the “Install the latest firmware (v.4.7.0)” while also checking the “Erase internal FAT file system” and “Reset ROFMS file system” but as the process goes on, I always get stuck to the “Reconnect your OpenMV Cam…” prompt after getting asked to disconnect it and reconnect when I am instructed so. I did many trials and errors to no avail.

By the way, I have another OpenMV Cam that is still working.

Does a little USB icon appear when connecting the camera? Or nothing? If nothing then it could be dead.

If the USB icon is appearing, and then it says install the latest firmware, and then after that it goes back into DFU mode… that’s quite weird. The only thing that would cause that if BOOT0 was somehow pulled high on startup. Is there some short on the board?

Thank for your reply. The little USB icon does appear and when I press it, it shows this prompt:

Then as I said earlier, I tried installing the latest firmware, but I always get stuck on the reconnect the OpenMV Cam prompt.

Hmmm, well, it’s not dead, but, BOOT0 must be stuck high for this to happen.

Check this:

The chip has internal flash, so, it will just run the regular bootloader which blinks the green LED if it’s okay.

I don’t understand. What am I supposed to do?

Check if something is keeping it high. If the traces on that signal net are not being pulled high by anything then something is very wrong with the STM32H7 chip onboard.

Oh, it works now, after some experiments. Thank you for the assistance.

What was the fix for others?
