OpenMV not connecting to IDE. green light keeps blinking

When i connect openMV H7 plus cam to the PC. the green light contineusly keeps blinking and the cam becomes hot after a couple of mins. but the IDE doesnt detect any usb, neither my computer ports detect anything. i tried it with multiple computer and multiple USB cables. same problem persists.

I have also tried force boot by connecting jumper wires at boot to reset pins, the ide temporeryly resets and downloads the latest firmware, but while downloading, it again disconnects from the pc. and the problem persists

please let me know how i can fix it.

Hi, it sounds like the board is never exiting the bootloader.

If the system crashes and then instantly resets this will be the case. The only thing I can think of is that there is an issue with the sdram causing it to be in a reset loop as the MCU and USB work to get the download and flashing green light.

Where did the board come from?

I purchased the board from Openmv’s official distributor in india fabtolab.com.

Hmm, they’ve only ever ordered like 4 H7 Pluses. They are likely reselling clone ones. Give me a picture of the front and back of it?

Mmm, it’s an official board. Did you do anything to damage it?

I have no idea why it happend. it was working fine until recently. is there any solution to this? can I send this for repairs or anything like that?

We don’t repair boards. It’s just too challenging for their cost.

However, can you try powering it with 3.3V from the 3.3V pin? We’ve had people kill the 5V to 3.3V LDO onboard. This part doesn’t die by accident… as I’ve had several H7 Pluses that have not died and been in use for years. Typically, the issue is always overvolting it via VIN.

Applying the 3.3V via the pin on the header skips the reg and may make it come back to life.
