Breakout board+portenta h7+openmv global shutter camera problem

Hi, has anything changed? I also have this set and OpemMV does not detect the camera.

We’re still working on it with Arduino, they have the breakout and GS for testing now.

Thanks, but it is unacceptable that when you buy such a set for so much money, it does not work… of course it’s Arduino’s fault.

Unfortunately we didn’t have the breakout for testing, and they didn’t have the global shutter sensor, that and all the shipping, supplies and stock issues the past few months delayed everything… I’m following up with them now and it should be working very soon, and I’ll do a firmware release to enable it after.

NOTE: Just to be clear we did add support for it, but it’s still not working and needs to be debugged.

Thank you…

Hi @iabdalkader,
Any updates on when this may be supported? The latest firmware (v4.1.2) does not detect an attached sensor for me.

Kind regards,
Matt

I found a couple of software issues that were fixed in the 4.1.2, but we’re still testing a few other things, I should have an update early next week.

Hi all, I just heard back from Arduino. They are investigating a potential issue with the Portenta Breakout. Please contact their support to get further information: https://www.arduino.cc/en/contact-us/

Any updates on this topic?

I’ve connected the sensor from OpenMV-H7 R1 to the Breakout board, but I cannot get the sensor detected.

The board design is such that it can’t work.

Thank you for the answer!

I am wondering why they even sell this breakout board… I needed a tool, now I have an expensive paperweight xD

I see that the pinout does not match, which cannot, obviously be corrected by firmware, though is not possible to release a cross-over cable like Camera Module Extension Cable | OpenMV to solve the issue?

Probably, Arduino may choose to do so.

I would have two more questions:

  1. How is identified the connector to the camera to buy it directly as such and not to chop-off a cable, or where to buy one
  2. Could you be so kind to direct me to the link for the firmware 4.1.2, please?
Thank you very much for your help!!

I found the connector, it was written in the cshematics: DF 12-36-DP

Yep, it’s discontinued though but then another company in china started cloning the connector with a black color instead of white.
