According to the datasheet (https://cdn.sparkfun.com/datasheets/Sensors/LightImaging/OV5640_datasheet.pdf) of the sensor used in the OpenMV camera (page 22), it applies pixel binning when the maximum resolution is not being used. It also says that pixel binning can be turned (page 34). What is the easiest way to do so?
The driver automatically turns this on when you lower the resolution below 1/4 the camera native res.
You have no need to ever mess with this. The only use case where you’d want to turn this off is to get a digital zoom effect.
