Frame Timeout Connecting FLIR Lepton 3.1R through Extension Cable

I am attempting to connect a FLIR Lepton 3.1R to my OpenMV H7 Plus using the camera extension cable. I am getting mixed results - most of the time the integrated shutter will actuate 5 times and then produce this error:

RuntimeError: Frame capture has timed out.

However, on several occasions I have been able to get a consistent output from the camera while attached via the extension cable. To try to diagnose this inconsistency here is what I have tried that has worked:

  • Running the same script with the FLIR Lepton without the extension cable
  • Connecting the OV6540 sensor via the extension cable running an example script

Here is what I have tried that has not worked:

  • Changing out the extension cable
  • Changing out the FLIR Lepton sensor
  • Changing out the H7 Plus board
  • Running an example FLIR Lepton script

Any wisdom on solving this issue would be greatly appreciated!

What firmware version are you using? Is it the latest? The FLIR Lepton driver is VERY robust now. We have excellent support for this device with the latest firmware.

Update: Using the Lepton adapter module V2 has resolved the issue.
