Converting light shield for IR LED's

I would like to convert the openmv light shield to use 950nm IR LED’s for night imaging. Has anyone attempted this?

If not, can someone supply me with a part number for the default white LED’s to see if I can find an LED in my wavelength range that would be compatible with the light shields existing electrical layout.

Thanks,

Hi, the PIR shield has IR LEDs on it to enable this. However, if you want to convert the light shield you can directly swap in IR LEDs and they will just work. The switching voltage regulator will generate whatever voltage it needs (up to 39V) in order to drive the string of 9 LEDs such that there’s 60mA flowing through the LEDs. So as long as the IR LEDs need less than 4.3V each then things should work.

Are the LED’s on the light shield 1210 two lead packages?

The PCB footprint is like 4mm by 2mm. You can inspect the PCB on the product page via the Altium browser.
