Is a lepton connected to GPIO possible?

Postby mirkwood » Tue May 12, 2020 9:16 pm

The lepton module currently replaces the camera but I'd like to have both a camera and thermal.
I see it needs 1xSPI, 1xI2C and 4 bits parallel which is available on the GPIO.
Ignoring the software side, is it possible to do from a hardware perspective?

Yep, you just need to connect the SPI bus pins, the I2C bus pins, and another 2 pins for RST and PWND and you can use it externally.

Regarding the software side, there would need to be significant modifications to the firmware to support it and a camera. But, there's no technical limit.
