Re: what version of MicroPython is it?

Fast work, you are the man! I downloaded the release zip and extracted, not sure which directory to use. OPENMV4? OPENMV4R?

Nevermind, found in another thread;
"The OPENMV4/firmware.bin is the right file to use."

Re: what version of MicroPython is it?

Interesting! Thanks for the info. I am thinking I will write a general-purpose wrapper class that keeps track of what timers are available so other code doesn't have to know.

Re: what version of MicroPython is it?

I'm looking at your timer_control.py example. def tick(timer): blue_led.toggle() tim = Timer(4, freq=1) # create a timer object using timer 4 - trigger at 1Hz tim.callback(tick) # set the callback to our tick function I assume timer 4 is a hardware timer? How many timers are there and what are the a...

Re: what version of MicroPython is it?

I see that the _thread module is present in the FW. I have some code from elsewhere that uses threads and trying to port it, but the thread function isn't being called. Is _thread fully implemented in the H7? Documentation is here; https://docs.python.org/3.5/library/_thread.html#module-_thread When...

what version of MicroPython is it?

I'm trying to read data in from a json file and ensure that it is string type. In the official docs the conversion would be done like so; https://docs.micropython.org/en/latest/genrst/builtin_types.html#str print(str(b'abc', encoding='utf8')) On the cam that code results in; "NotImplementedError: ke...

Re: files on cam not being updated from IDE?

Wow, that's pretty inconvenient.

I discovered that if I do a 'sync' command in a separate window after every write to the board it seems to flush the filesystem cache out to the hardware. It would be nice if the IDE would perform that automatically.

files on cam not being updated from IDE?

Pardon my inexperience with this platform but I am having trouble with files on the board being updated as I edit them. Probably I am just not following the right procedures. I have a number of modules that I had written for ESP32 that I am trying to port over to the H7. My development environment i...

Re: documentation for the network module?

In the docs...

WINC.wait_for_sta(timeout)

What is the unit of time for 'timeout'? Seconds, milliseconds?

documentation for the network module?

I've got a WiFi shield and I see the connect example code for it. That code works here for me, I can connect to local WiFi. But I am not seeing documentation for the OpenMV implementation of the network module. Is that online somewhere? import network wlan = network.WINC() help(wlan) A lot of method...

Re: development questions

Thanks for explaining. So it sounds like we can put custom script modules onto the onboard flash and import and run that code from a main script running in the IDE. Assuming that code works as expected, you can then embed the main.py on flash which will then run at boot time, and then afterwards you...

Re: development questions

How do you get to error messages that print at boot time? Seems like you have to wait for the board to boot and then hook up after?

Will a script that runs in a loop at boot time prevent you from connecting the IDE?

development questions

I have lots of ESP32 MicroPython experience but new to the H7 development environment, so I have some basic questions on the code development procedure. I haven't done a lot of experimentation yet so maybe some answers to questions will save me time. I have the IDE running on both a Windows10 and a ...

Re: REPL prompt on expansion board UART

I was able to wire up a header that adapts from the H7 board to my FTDI cable (a little awkward because ground is on the opposite side of the board from pins 4 and 5) and can get a python prompt now. But I am puzzled about some things now, will start another thread to ask questions.

Re: REPL prompt on expansion board UART

Got it, thanks. I'll solder up a header to plug in to the H7 that collects those pins plus ground for my FTDI cable tomorrow.

Re: REPL prompt on expansion board UART

Thanks for the reply. I am looking at the H7 board diagram here; https://docs.openmv.io/_images/pinout1.png It looks like there are a couple of sets of UART TX/RX pins but they double as SPI and IC2? Which pins should I use for TX and RX for UART(3)? Pins 4 and 5? Which pins are enabled when you sel...

Re: REPL prompt on expansion board UART

Hi thanks, I had tried clicking the 'duplicate REPL on the UART on startup' box, then resetting the board as I said in my previous post. Still not seeing anything. I also changed the UART number to 3 in my code in the IDE and clicked the green arrow. The code appears to execute without failure now b...

REPL prompt on expansion board UART

I've got an H7 with the WiFi shield. I am able to run scripts from the IDE (over USB) and now would like to be able to access the H7 via REPL using a serial connection to a UART port on the device. I routinely do this with ESP32/Micropython devices and in principle should be able to do the same thin...

Re: WiFi shield firmware

Looking around at the various threads I saw that there was new firmware available so I downloaded that and unzipped it; https://github.com/openmv/openmv/releases/tag/v3.5.0.beta.3 Did a search there and found a winc_19_6_1.bin file. So I put that on the H7 flash base directory and ran fw_update.py, ...

WiFi shield firmware

I installed the IDE yesterday and can connect to a H7 board with no problem, updated the firmware. I have a WiFi shield plugged in to the H7 board and am trying to run the connect.py script from the IDE. I get an error; OSError: Failed to initialize WINC1500 module: Firmware version mismatch.
