Re: Sensor settings

Thanks but the pdf doesn't answer my question. If I set these to true how often does the camera adjust?

Sensor settings

I know most of your examples have these set to false but I am looking for clarification on how they actually work while set to true? Do they adjust continuously?

sensor.set_auto_gain(True)
sensor.set_auto_whitebal(True)

Re: New firmware release

Thanks.

One suggestion. You should update the readme to indicate which OPENMV# maps to which camera. I know mv3 is m7 and I assume mv4 is for h7 but as you add cameras it would be useful to have a map.

New firmware release

I know that you are working on a new firmware release. Any idea when it will be out?

Re: Finding AprilTags at a distance

I redid the tests but using GRAYSCALE AprilTag detection. . 1. Much better performance for VGA with 200x200 windowing. 2. QVGA with 200x200 windowing works. 3. VGA with 250x160 windowing works. 4. QVGA with 250x160 windowing does NOT work. 5. QVGA with 160x120 windowing has really good performance. ...

Re: Finding AprilTags at a distance

RGB565. Since I am only processing AprilTags I guess I should be using grayscale. I will try to redo some of my tests.

Re: Finding AprilTags at a distance

In my initial testing zoom example on M7 with your firmware showing version 3.0.0 I see the following : 1. Baseline VGA with 160x120 windowing works well 2. Baseline QVGA with 160x120 windowing works well 3. VGA with 200x200 windowing works but not as frequently picking up the tag as 160x120 4. QVGA...

Re: Finding AprilTags at a distance

I am doing some bench testing now. windowing of 200x200 250x160 160x250 400x100 100x400 are all 40000 so match the current multiple of 8 rule. I think QVGA will work with the best balance for our application but will also try VGA. We need from around 30" to as far as possible. Caregivers are differe...

Re: Finding AprilTags at a distance

Thanks. I will give it a try. Windowing at 250x160 should also work right?

Re: Finding AprilTags at a distance

My son and I have some testing planned for around July 2nd. It would be great to test the new firmware. When do you plan to release it? Thanks.

Re: Finding AprilTags at a distance

In my applications I don't need to see the images and mainly use the IDE just for testing and troubleshooting. My apriltag routines follow your examples pretty closely. I am curious if removing img.draw_ commands will save memory of any significant amount. Is it something to consider?

Re: any H7 updates?

I didn't save the Uart1 code. As I think about it there is a possibility that I made a mistake with my use of UART.any() and I had a watchdog in place so that might have caused the resets. If I encounter the problem again I will raise it as a bug.

Re: any H7 updates?

Thanks. Center X is mainly what we need to send appropriate driving commands to our arduino system. We are also playing with distance Z but are mainly relying on a ultrasonic proximity sensor to ensure that I don't run over the caregiver. Nice to have options. AprilTags are very cool. One hopefully ...

Re: any H7 updates?

Thanks and yes, he probably was holding in the border. how much border do we typically need? I think we are getting around 5 feet with him holding at the border. We plan to try to put the tag on a shirt so it doesn't have to be held. Will be interesting to see how well that works. A little over a ye...

any H7 updates?

M7 is a great product and my son and I have done some cool projects with it, https://youtu.be/QF62dnSU-H4

Wondering how H7 is going and if we are likely to get more AprilTag recognition distance from it?

Performance question

I have seen it stated several times that the fps processing performance drops when connected to the IDE. Is that also true if just connected via USB or is it specific to running through the IDE?
