General question about QtCreator

I use QtCreator to compile the IDE and I get the following under the general messages tab [Inexact] Project MESSAGE: No gmock is found! To enable unit tests set GOOGLETEST_DIR [Inexact] Project ERROR: No LLVM_INSTALL_DIR provided Project MESSAGE: This project is using private headers and will theref...

Re: Can you tell me how you invoke ffmpeg

Thank you for the prompt response. There is no need to make opensuse a special case and creating a symbolic link named x-terminal-emulator to the xterm program is not a problem There is also no need from my point of view to convert mp4 files back to ImageWriter format. I want to use files generated ...

Re: Can you tell me how you invoke ffmpeg

This raises another question about ImageWriter and ImageReader. The IDE creates an mjpeg type file which to my mind makes me think the file is lossily compressed. If so then reading back a writer created set of images will have lost some quality due to the compression algorithms. Also exiftool repor...

Re: Can you tell me how you invoke ffmpeg

In order to run ffmpeg the IDE creates a shell script with file path /tmp/openmvide-ffmpeg.sh and with the following contents #!/bin/sh "/home/bogflap/bin/openmv-ide/build-qtcreator-Desktop_Qt_5_5_1_GCC_64bit-Debug/share/qtcreator/ffmpeg/linux-x86_64/ffmpeg" -hide_banner -i "/tmp/stream.mjpeg" "/hom...

Can you tell me how you invoke ffmpeg

I have created a stream.bin file using the image_writer_1.py example. I am now trying to convert this bin file to the mp4 format using the Tools->Video Tools->Convert Video File functionality in the IDE. (IDE V1.9.0, firmware V2.9.0) I have made a local copy of the bin file but when I try to convert...

Re: OpenMV IDE 1.9.0 "stopping" issue

Ok. The code i am using is as below Note that all the io is happening because i was tracking down why the image held in the allocated frame buffer was getting corrupted. I suspect that one of the routines, such as find_blobs, is using the memory without checking to see if it is in use. That is just ...

Re: OpenMV IDE 1.9.0 "stopping" issue

I get this problem fairly regularly. Hit the stop cross and I get a white light on my M7. OS sees the M7 as disconnected. Sometimes I get a corrupt SD card. I am assuming that the IDE exception that you get is interrupting a file IO operation hence the SD card corruption. It would be nice if there w...

Re: IDE compiles and runs okay under opensuse

No issue with using the the firmware binaries. Updated my M7 just like that.
Tried compiling the firmware but suse uses completely different program names for cross compiling.
Did not pursue that any farther as binaries are available on git.

Keep up the good work

IDE compiles and runs okay under opensuse

FYI I have managed to get the IDE (1.9.0) to compile and run using QtCreator 4.6.1. and QT 5.5.1 under opensuse Leap 42.2. Obtained code using git clone --recursive https://github.com/openmv/openmv-ide.git This includes being able to update the example ode and updating the firmware. This is using an...

Re: An application for auto-focus

Looks good to me.
As an aside, is Discrete Cosine Transform implemented or to be implemented.
From my reading this is faster than an FFT. However if you are confident about 30 fps then it does not really matter.

Re: An application for auto-focus

Okay I understand where you are coming from as far as the ROI is concerned. I had this problem initially in that I found it easy to obtain pictures simply by taking the difference between sequential frames. I used the code here as the basis for my code https://www.pyimagesearch.com/2015/05/25/basic-...

Re: An application for auto-focus

After an afternoon of searching the internet it looks like the keywords I need are "Trap Focus" and "Focus Priority". It appears that some higher end cameras offer these facilies but not the ability to be left unattended taking photographs. This is what my project requires as the intention is not to...

An application for auto-focus

The project i am implementing at present is using a LIDAR unit to detect bees leaving and entering their hive. The LIDAR has a narrow beam angle on it so I am using it to measure a distance in front of a camera so that when the LIDAR detects something within a minimum and maximum range then the came...
