Just to clarify. If on line 34 of the script you reference the ".compress" is omitted then an uncompressed image will be sent?

Re: Programatically transferring data off board to a host.

Yes got it. I am looking at __USBDBG_TX_BUF command. Does this receive the results of using the functions USB_VCP.write(buf) or USB_VCP.send(data,timeout). Besides the timeout is there any difference in these functions? Also what type does buf or data have to be. I would like to send the results of ...

Programatically transferring data off board to a host.

There seems to be little enthusiasm to write any kind of host programs that enable the transfer of data to a host using programming only. In my use of the M7 and I have constantly hit problems with memory usage which I feel sure cannot be unique. I would like to be able to transfer data from the M7 ...

Allocating memory from frame buffer for MLX90640

When using the MLX90640 I having been trying to allocate two buffers for the read_ir(...) function in ram. However I get a memory error (cannot allocate 4096 bytes(?)). So I thought of using sensor.alloc_extra_fb but this returns a img object. Also what type do I use anyway. How can I get round this...

So does this mean that the snapshot function does colorisation (translates the temperature values into a rainbow spectrum) and the read_ir does not?

Difference betwen fir.read_ir and fir.snapshot

I am looking to calculate the difference between consecutive images from and AMG8833 to spot when an above ambient temperature object comes into the AMG8833's field of view. I have been testing using the AMG8833_overlay.py script to but unfortunately I seem to get some unexpected hot spots displayed...

Took a while to try it as getting delivery of the AMG8833 was a little fraught.
Came from Mouser which is a delivery from across the pond.

Re: Firmware updates

You got the right firmware, version 3.1.0.
Recognises the FIR_AMG8833 attribute.
Gives me a beautiful blue screen when running the AMG8833_camera.py script.
Ok so I need to connect a camera which will happen shortly

Re: M7 Thermal Imager support for AMG8833 and MLX90640

Good news. Go for it.
By the way will it be possible to attach more than one imager to a single M7/H7.
I am looking at using more than one for triangulation and having multiple M7/H7's daisy chained would be cumbersome.

Re: Can you tell me how you invoke ffmpeg

Thank you for the prompt response. Re: Can you tell me how you invoke ffmpeg

This raises another question about ImageWriter and ImageReader. The IDE creates an mjpeg type file which to my mind makes me think the file is lossily compressed. If so then reading back a writer created set of images will have lost some quality due to the compression algorithms. Also exiftool repor...

I get this problem fairly regularly. Hit the stop cross and I get a white light on my M7. OS sees the M7 as disconnected. Sometimes I get a corrupt SD card. I am assuming that the IDE exception that you get is interrupting a file IO operation hence the SD card corruption. It would be nice if there w...

As an aside, is Discrete Cosine Transform implemented or to be implemented.
From my reading this is faster than an FFT. However if you are confident about 30 fps then it does not really matter.
